Alexandrite

Alexandrite is a rare, color-change variety of the mineral chrysoberyl. Often described as “emerald by day, ruby by night,” it displays a dramatic color shift from bluish-green in daylight to brownish-red under incandescent light. Its value is primarily determined by the intensity of the color change and the clarity of the crystal.
